Mark and his dad built a Mirror together when he was about 12 years old. The boat was called 'Bad News'. Mark went on to win State and National junior Australian titles in that boat.
In 2009, together with Mirror sailor Lachlan Gilbert, Dinghy Sports imported a new Winder Mk 3 Mirror. Moulds were taken then measured and approved by ISAF and 20 new boats were built in the lead up to World Championships in Albany WA in 2011. In continuing the tradition of father and son, Mark and Hugh sailed together in the Nationals held at Lake Cootharaba QLD, in 2010, gaining 3rd place.
