The Sabot is a 2.4 metre (eight foot) cat rigged dinghy sailed throughout
Australia. It is the most popular kids training boat in this country. More than 200 Sabots competed in the last Australian Championships. The Sabot rules have the kids sailing in the two-up division up until they are 12, then one-up to a maximum of 16 years. Most kids are too big for Sabots by 14 years and then move on to other boats such as Flying Elevens, Flying Ants and Spirals. The Sabot is a National Class. Each season the Sabot Association organises local, zone, state and national championships, all of which have a long tradition and great prestige is associated with the winner. The boats are built using the highest grades of fiberglass and resins available. The construction is foam sandwich using vacuum bagging techniques to ensure lightweight and strong boats. The boats are generally in stock or can be ordered in specific colours from bare hull to sail away. The Dinghy Sports MK IV hull shape, deck and internal mouldings are the result of 2 years of development work and attention to detail.
